The company has recently been demonstrating its latest OE system solutions developed for the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers – such as the E-Clutch, E-Wheel Drive and Schaeffler Hybrid Module – at a special exhibition during the Automechanika fair in Frankfurt, Germany.
Automechanika also saw the debut of the FAG SmartSET, a new, easy-to-fit truck hub repair solution developed especially for the commercial vehicle aftermarket. The FAG SmartSET can be used to repair all trucks, buses and trailer axles that use conventional tapered roller bearings.
Schaeffler launched its first high-tech OE dry double clutch system in 2008, which was originally fitted to just VAG vehicles but is now specified by the likes of Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Ford, Honda and Renault, with many more to come. The double clutch aftermarket repair solution is the unique LuK RepSet 2CT, which provides the opportunity to carry out a professional double clutch repair, using specially developed tools, after completing the required IMI approved training course.
Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket aims to provide its distributor and garage customers with the best possible technical assistance and has launched a new @REPXPERT_UK Twitter channel. It is already proving popular with users keen to follow a variety of tweets such as #TechTips, #NotJustClutch and the company’s technical motorsport partnerships with Formula E, DTM and the WEC.
Schaeffler is a major supporter of the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) which promotes the benefits of fitting OE parts.
OESAA, whose slogan is ‘Our Quality. Your Reputation’, represents the leading manufacturers and suppliers of OE automotive parts to vehicle producers and works to ensure that workshops and distributors can make an informed choice when purchasing spare parts.
Nigel Morgan, Managing Director of Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket division in the UK, who is the OESAA chairman, said: “Our members all share a common concern – safety, and we want every mechanic in every workshop to recognise and understand the risk of fitting inferior or sub-standard non-tested parts.
“Vehicle manufacturers and OE suppliers, such as ourselves, invest millions in R&D and testing to ensure that their products offer the highest levels of performance and safety to the consumer. The end-user experience is key to this message – namely that a vehicle is more likely to ‘feel the same and drive the same’ if the original parts are replaced ‘like-for-like’.
“The additional benefit for the installer is the reassurance that the product will fit first time, every time and that they can just ‘fit it and forget it’.”
