January's Top 3 Hotline Topics
1/23/17 / Tech
This months top three topics straight from our technical hotline team
Hot Topic One:
Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN)
Although this may seem like an basic thing to talk about it is extremely relevant when using the catalogue.
This is a unique code as used by the automotive industry as defined by International Standards (ISO), it is technically the car's fingerprint.
This number is made of common vehicle data plus a sequential ending to the code. It is often the final sequence that the catalouge referes to. By using the VIN number instead of the REG of the vehicle you are more likely to find the correct part for the correct version of that vehicle.
Hot Topic Two:
Engine Code and Sequential Number
The engine code and number are normally found adjacent to the engine block. The code pinpoints which engine and the series number can assist with identification. For example: Vauxhall Astra Z19DTH - the catalouge indicates 'engine number to: 17361103 or engine number from: 17361104'.
Hot Topic Three
Transmission Types and Numbers
Similar to the topic above. For this an example would be: Mercedes Vito 111 indicates type: 639.701-713; transmission type: 716.637; transmission number to: 011088.
