LuK Master Cylinder
Converting pedal force into hydraulic pressure
As part of the clutch release system, the master cylinder delivers the necessary pressure build-up in the hydraulic system. It is usually mounted to the front bulkhead or to the pedal mount with bolts or a bayonet lock. The cylinder's piston rod is connected directly to the clutch pedal inside the vehicle.
A modern clutch master cylinder not only carries out this basic function, but it performs a variety of additional tasks as well. In order to improve safety, comfort and handling vehicles now have cruise control, start inhibitor systems, electric parking brakes, torque adapters and automatic start-stop systems. These additional systems require further reductions in space and weight to enable simple and fast installation.
